The Craziest Behind the Scenes Star Wars Stories Ever

With “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” breaking every box office record in sight, it’s probably a good time to take a look back at the first three films in the series to unearth some of the more outrageous secrets that occurred during the filming of the movies. So without further ado, here are some of the craziest behind the scenes “Star Wars” stories.

1. The Actor Who Played Obi-Wan Thought the Role Was Nonsense

The late Sir Alec Guinness, one of the most acclaimed English actors of all time, has always maintained in interviews that he only took the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in “Star Wars” for the money. He thought the script was ridiculous, the dialogue terrible, and the entire concept to be far beneath his stature. Rumor has it that it was his desire to die in the first film in order to avoid having to reprise his role in subsequent movies. And as we all know, Obi-Wan ‘dies’ in a lightsaber confrontation with Darth Vader in “Star Wars.” It’s interesting to note, however, that Guinness took all the residuals from the movie without complaint.
